An IB World School
The International School of Hout Bay offers an international curriculum based upon the finest contemporary educational practice. The curriculum is a combination of the South African National Curriculum, matched with the British National Cirriculum and delivered through the innovative pedagogy of the International Baccalaureate (IB). The Cambridge International Examinations and IB Diploma provide externally assessed qualifications recognised throughout the world.
The IB (International Baccalaureate) offers three programmes of international education for students aged 3 to 19, working in close cooperation with IB World Schools. The three programmes span the years from kindergarten to pre-university. The programmes can be offered individually or as a continuum.
The Primary Years Programme is for pupils aged 3 to 12 focuses on the development of the whole child in the classroom and in the world outside. The International School of Hout Bay has Candidate Status aiming fior full authorization during 2009.
The Middle Years Programme for pupils aged 11 to 16 provides a framework of academic challenge and life skills, achieved through embracing and transcending traditional school subjects. The International School of Hout Bay adopts pedagogical aspects of the IB Middle Years Programme and combines it with the Cambridge International Examinations Board.
The Diploma Programme for students aged 16 to 19 is a demanding two-year curriculum leading to final examinations and a qualification that is welcomed by leading universities around the world. The International School of Hout Bay has been authorized to offer the Diploma Programme from January 2009.
Each programme includes a curriculum and pedagogy, student assessment appropriate to the age range, professional development for teachers and a process of school authorization and evaluation. The International School of Hout Bay is one of 2,390 IB World Schools in 129 countries.
If you do not know of the advantages of this excitting curriculum you should investigate further.
