PRIMARY SCHOOL OUTDOOR EDUCATION
Outdoor Education is an afterschool club which takes place fortnightly on Friday’s in the beautiful surrounding area of Hout Bay. We are blessed in Hout Bay to have such natural beauty on our doorstep, from beaches to mountain peaks within kilometres.
This club is only available to YR5 & 6 learners and is not a compulsory club.
Since 2010 teacher Kobus Stofberg has been running this club and children have been taken all over the valley to explore nature and find their own limits. Hiking is the most common activity, with the group exploring the different peaks and hills surrounding Hout Bay. In 2011 the school also introduced the Hout Bay High 5 (HBH5) challenge where in children are challenged to complete 5 hikes to 5 peaks with the club. The peaks are Chapman’s Peak, Skoorsteenkop, Eagle’s Nest, Little Lionshead and The Sentinel.
Other activities which has been on the program include rock climbing, snorkelling, beach games, orienteering and mountain biking.
